ABSTRACT

Burnout represents a major and debilitating response to on-going job stress. Particularly with the pressures brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical profession has seen a dramatic critical rise in the level of stress and the frequency of burnout. A significant amount of research focusing on healthcare has been conducted over the last several years primarily directed to those members of the medical profession who provide direct services to patients. Unfortunately, hospital executives, administrators, and administrative teams have been largely excluded from this research. To rectify this problem, this study explores the way administrative team members describe their experiences with burnout in terms of educational growth and leadership development. The results of this study provide insights into three main areas: the perception of burnout as a health issue, the causes, sources, and effects of burnout among administrative healthcare administrators, and the effects of burnout on education and training. By better understanding the causes and consequences of burnout at the executive level and the training and leadership development interventions that can successfully address the sources of that burnout, healthcare leadership can be in a better position to guide and direct their organizations to provide the highest quality of care to their clients: the patients and their families who rely on the American health care system, often in life and death situations. ABSTRACT

The article discusses and analyses the importance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) principles in the University environment. It is crucial to properly evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the university's administrative and academic staff performances as an organizational form. In the last couple of years, besides the negative impact, COVID-19 positively impacted the technological development at the HEIs. So, the ERP system remains a powerful program that allows businesses to systematize all important processes. Drastically, doing so reduces costs and the possibility of making mistakes, thereby increasing efficiency and profitability. The ERP system comprises the main sections of an organization, such as financial, human resources, production, logistics, etc., but to the present does not cover the whole university's administrative and learning activities. Thus, most HEIs effectively implement technologies and E-Systems but, in most cases, are fragmented and do not cover whole university activities. The purpose of the article is to create one united platform based on an ERP system, whereby we will get the new model of the University Recourse Planning (URP) system and will be implemented and facilitate the: unified digital database, improvement of university efficiency, less bureaucracy, delayed decisions and the and quality improvement. As a result, all the data will be shown as a "Dashboard" to the top management of HEI, which will perceive information about the weaknesses and gaps for achieving specific objectives. © 2022 IAMUC. ABSTRACT

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic forced educational institutions worldwide to deploy virtual and hybrid classes as a unique option to continue with the teaching-learning process. However, these modalities imply important efforts on the part of teachers, students, and administrative staff to ensure the teaching-learning process quality. Considering the above, this research work carries out a qualitative interdisciplinary analysis using the focus group technique intending to determine the perceptions, challenges, trends, and trade-offs of the virtual and hybrid modalities during and after the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Our analysis involves various disciplines (e.g., pedagogical and andragogical, social-economic, ergonomic, educational technology, and product & service innovation perspectives). As a result, some particular findings of each perspective are shown. The results of this research work can help the body of technical knowledge related to the curricula design at different educational levels to increase the efficiency of hybrid and virtual classes. Finally, this research work has some limitations, therefore the findings presented are suggestive rather than definitive. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Social distancing and security measures have contained the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, the return to face-to-face activities is necessary for specific companies, and some higher education institutions have already done so. The various disorders that this new reality could generate have motivated the present study, which aims to analyze the emotional state of teachers and administrative staff. The instrument used was the abbreviated depression, anxiety, and stress scale (DASS-21), with an internal consistency index of 0.87. The methodology was based on applying a survey to 202 participants from Quito, Ecuador. The sample consisted of 97 men and 105 women aged between 23 and 59 years. A quantitative and cross-sectional design was used in this research. The results show that 40.1% of the respondents presented anxiety, 36.63% depression, and 38.61% stress between mild and highly severe categories. Additionally, when analyzing the depression, anxiety, and stress levels compared to productivity variables, we found that five disorders, i.e., fear, anxiety, over reactivity, skeletal muscle effects, and dysphoria, directly affect productivity variables, such as performing simple tasks, performing difficult tasks, the number of products made, and the number of products rejected. Thus, returning to face-to-face mode has affected the emotional state of many people, showing differences according to the job position, with anxiety being the highest self-identified incidence rate.

ABSTRACT

Training and quality culture are important approaches that hospitals use to improve performance. This study aimed to investigate the impact of training and quality culture on administrative staff performance and patient satisfaction in public hospitals in Saudi Arabia (SA). This study followed a deductive, quantitative, and descriptive-analytical approach. Data was collected from public hospital administrative staff (n=211) through a Google Forms questionnaire which was distributed as a link to the study participants through social media applications and e-mails. Data analysis reveals that the training and quality culture of administrative staff in SA public hospitals has helped improve their behavior and service to their clients. There is no relationship between training, quality culture, and employee satisfaction. There is a positive relationship between quality culture and employee satisfaction. There is a statistically significant impact of training culture and quality culture on administrative services. Therefore, this study recommends developing deliberate training plans for raising administrative competencies and services in public hospitals in SA and encouraging administrators to practice and apply what has been acquired from training programmers and quality principles. Further studies should be conducted to find effective strategies for adopting training and quality culture in hospitals during pandemics (e.g., COVID-19). Disciplinary: Hospital Management. ABSTRACT

Universities and institutions of higher education have been forced to move study and work activities remotely to contrast the spread of the pandemic due to Covid-19. Given the differences in roles, opportunities and operational functions of students, faculty members and university employees, it was deemed important to investigate whether any difficulties encountered in this condition of isolation may have led the three different groups to behave in an ethically inappropriate manner. To this end a questionnaire was developed and administered to a sample of 706 respondents, i.e. faculty members, students and technical and administrative staff. The study participants filled in a questionnaire aimed at investigating the operating conditions of working and studying at a distance, relating them to the perception of possible misbehavior by their own group and the other two subgroups. Results put in evidence that the three groups considered faced different difficulties that had different effects on perceptions in relation to the misconduct they experienced or perpetrated. Faculty appear to be essentially suffering from problems experienced even before the pandemic, such as an excess of competition that leads them to see their own colleagues as unfair. Students have less satisfactory housing conditions and demonstrate an awe of faculty that leads them to express less dissent when they witness misconduct. Technical and administrative staff appear disadvantaged in terms of technical tools and less equipped to process the negative feedback they receive about their work. However, they more than the other two groups are convinced that misbehaviors have decreased during home quarantine. On the contrary, faculty and students reported that misconduct have increased during the period of isolation. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the effect of the isolation during the lockdown period on psychological distress and well-being in a sample of professors (N=150), students (N=150) and technical administrative staff (N=150) from 3 Italian Universities, in the region of Tuscany. We administered a self-reported online questionnaire to collect socio-demographic information, investigate issues in work and study life, and assess the level of perceived stress and psychological well-being. The results of this study indicate that under conditions of isolation perceived stress levels are increased, and this is related to the experience of an unpleasant house environment. This is also significantly predicted by the occurrence of issues with online lectures and administrative activities for university professors or by having issues with managerial support for technical administrative staff. On the other hand, for university students, a good relationship with other students is of great importance to maintain a high level of mental well-being and being male is a protective factor. Evidently, aspects related to the deprivation of opportunities for peer relationships are experienced as particularly problematic. © 2021 Virtual Simulation Innovation Workshop, SIW 2021. ABSTRACT

Introduction: Covid-19 disease has a variety of consequences for people involved in the treatment of patients. One of these complications is hypochondriasis. This study aimed to compare hypochondriasis in the medical and administrative staff of Kosar Hospital in Semnan during the pandemic in 2020. Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional analytical study, 259 medical staff and 65 administrative staff working in Kosar Semnan Educational, Research and Treatment Center in 2020 were selected by simple random sampling and entered into the study. Data collection tools included a demographic information checklist and Evans Hypochondria standard questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: The prevalence of hypochondriasis in medical staff was significantly higher than administrative staff (60.2% vs. 51.5%, respectively, and P=0.007). Prevalence of hypochondriasis was higher in older, single and lower educated people (P< 0.001). Moreover, subjects with a history of infection with covid-19 (P< 0.001) or positive family history of infection with covid-19 (P< 0.001) had a higher rate of hypochondriasis;however, there was no significant association between gender and hypochondriasis (P=0.253). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it is crucial to identify people at risk of hypochondriasis during the pandemic, with a critical focus on medical personnel to prevent the incidence of hypochondriasis in medical staff or provide treatment for those already afflicted with it.
